HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE

by H. Thomas Hayden on March 9, 2010

Someone at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) must be upset that Canada beat the U.S. in Olympic hockey.

The Montreal Gazette reported that starting in December, some passengers on Canadian airlines flying to, from or even over the United States without ever landing there, will only be allowed to board the aircraft once the U.S.  DHS  has determined they are not terrorists.

The DHS “Secure Flight” program, which is set to take effect globally in December 2010, was created as part of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, adopted by U.S. Congress in 2004.

The real issue is this: The same people who couldn’t imagine an explosives-laden pair of skivvies on a man who practically had a sign that said “TERRORIST” hung around his neck when he boarded a plane heading to the U.S. last December, are from the same agencies and training programs that are charged with examining the Canadian flights.

When will this lunacy end?
