WASHINGTON POST HYPE?

by H. Thomas Hayden on July 20, 2010

Quote from the Washington Post: “…some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.’

Many thought that with all the advance publicity and hype by the Post we were going to see massive Intelligence secrets exposed in the paper.

A two year investigation brought a bunch of numbers of top secret installations and security clearances. All this might have been found in Congressional funding records.

To their credit, the Post did identify that the U.S. has too many agencies doing the same thing. One significant area is chasing the money.

It was amusing to learn that some of the interviewed ask the Post investigators what they knew about another agency – proof that we still do not have complete sharing of information in all agencies.

The Director of National Intelligence was supposed to clean up all this but it has not happened.

Still cannot connect the dots?
