Why is the attempted bombing of the NW Flight 253 still being debated on what government agency is to blame?

Why is the terrorist being charged with only ”attempting to blow up an aircraft?” What happened to all the anti-terrorism legislation we were suppose to see?

One simple reason is the over reaction or inaction by the Department of Homeland Security.

Consider that the DHS, Transportation Security Agency, put out rules for all aircraft then revised them to say it’s up to the captain as to what rule he wants to establish.

After a two-day security restriction on airline passenger rules, some airline officials told The Associated Press that the in-flight restrictions had been eased, and it was now up to captains on each flight to decide whether passengers can have blankets and other items on their laps or can move around  or have electronic device  on during the final phase of flight

Of particular interest to U.S. officials, beyond Abdulmutallab’s travels to Yemen, is a partially successful attack on the head of Saudi Arabia’s counter-terrorism effort and an article on the use of the same explosives as on Flight NW 253, authored by the Yemen Al-Qaeda group’s leader.

In the former incident, a suicide bomber hid PETN in his underwear, as did the NW 253 terrorist, detonating it when meeting Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, head of Saudi counter-terrorism, last 28 August 2009.

The terrorist who attacked Prince bin Nayef had claimed he was a former Al Qaeda member and was turning himself in, died in the attack. Prince bin Nayef suffered burns to his hands. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula claimed responsibility for this attack.

             Americans should have cause to worry there may be more Al Qaeda-trained men and women in Yemen planning to bomb Americans.

             Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted bombing  Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were  more just     like him in Yemen who would strike soon.

            How do passengers alert the authorities that a hijacking is in  progress if they cannot use their cell phones?

           Another friend sent me a commnet that best explains the stupidy of it all: Can you see the irony, though? The idiotic “stay seated” rule   means that a future attack may occur and passengers will be torn between  following instructions or challenging a terrorist.

The terrorist act on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 may be the first of many as has been reported by many intelligence agencies.

Many reports from around the globe have described that a number of new attacks on America are in preparation.

 Law enforcement officials say the suspect on NW 253 had more than 80 grams of  a compound related to nitro-glycerin used by the military strapped to his body which he tried to ignite.

 The FBI said PETN, or pentaerythritol, is the same  plastic explosive used by Al-Qaeda operative Richard C. Reid in his 
December 2001 attempt to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner by igniting a  homemade bomb in his shoe.

 The device used by both bombers is a binary explosive system as described in an “ATF Law Enforcement Guide to 
Explosives Incident Reporting.”  Two seemingly harmless materials once combined cause an explosion.
